Pool App Uses AI to Organize Your Chaotic Screenshots
The habit of taking screenshots for recipes, fashion inspiration, or travel ideas often leads to a disorganized camera roll. A new iOS app called Pool aims to solve this digital clutter by using artificial intelligence to make sense of your saved images.
How Pool Organizes Data
Once users grant the app access to their photo library, Pool automatically sorts screenshots into custom categories labeled as “pools.” These categories are dynamically generated based on the specific items, locations, or products a user saves over time.
Beyond simple organization, the application attempts to bridge the gap between static images and the original source. If a user screenshots a product, Pool can identify the retailer’s website; if it captures a recipe from social media, the app can retrieve the ingredients and cooking instructions.
Founding Vision and AI Integration
Co-founders Maxime Junique and Piet Terheyden initially developed the concept three years ago under their studio, Spinoff Studio. While the idea was shelved to focus on B2B SaaS products like the CRM software Waitless, the recent rise of AI made the project viable again.
“Everyone goes after emails, bank transactions, chat logs — all of those productivity-first datasets,” Junique noted. “Who is going after this really, deeply emotional dataset we all own?”
Functionality and Future Plans
- Smart Lifecycle: The app manages screenshots based on relevance; for instance, event ticket barcodes may be deprioritized after an event concludes.
- AI Assistance: Users can interact with their library via search or by asking a built-in AI assistant questions about their saved content.
- Future Development: The team is planning a second, separate application focused on “agentic AI” that will function as a personal assistant, incorporating the rubber duck mascot currently seen in Pool.
The startup has secured over $2 million in pre-seed funding from investors including General Catalyst, Kima Ventures, and Paris-based Source Ventures. Pool is currently available as a free download on iOS.
