Apple Intelligence: New AI Features Announced at WWDC 2026

Apple introduced a significant expansion of its Apple Intelligence suite during WWDC 2026, focusing on cross-app integration and generative AI tools designed to automate daily tasks across the iPhone ecosystem.

Context-Aware Features and Safari Upgrades

A standout update for power users is the Phone app’s new capability to pull contextual data from Mail and Messages during an active call. For example, if a user is speaking with an airline, the system can surface relevant flight information in real time. This move positions Apple directly against Google’s “Magic Cue” functionality, signaling a shift where AI utility is defined by access to personal data at the operating system level.

Safari is also receiving a major overhaul with AI-driven tab management. The browser will now automatically group tabs by topic and suggest related pages to existing groups. Additionally, a new page monitor will alert users to changes on websites, such as price fluctuations or news updates. Apple is also opening these generation features to third-party developers via a new API, alongside the ability to create custom wallpapers and contact posters.

The Photos app is receiving enhanced cleanup tools, including improved object removal and an expansion feature that fills in the edges of a photo.
