Meta Launches Prescription-Ready Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
Meta is expanding its wearable portfolio with two new Ray-Ban smart glasses models engineered specifically for prescription lens wearers. The announcement marks a shift toward broader accessibility for users who require vision correction throughout the day.
The new lineup, which officially launches on April 14, will be available through optical retailers across the United States and select international markets. Prices for these models begin at $499.

Design and Customization
The new collection features two distinct silhouettes designed for long-term comfort:
- Blayzer: A rectangular frame offered in both standard and large sizing.
- Scriber: A rounded frame style.
To ensure a personalized fit, both models include flexible overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and temple tips that can be adjusted by an optician to match the wearer’s specific facial structure.
Expanded Aesthetics and AI Capabilities
Beyond the new prescription-ready frames, Meta is updating its existing Ray-Ban and Oakley collections with new colorways and lens options. The Skyler, Headliner, and Wayfarer frames will receive new combinations, such as the Shiny Transparent Peach with Transitions Brown Lenses and the Shiny Transparent Grey with Transitions Sapphire Lenses.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard line also sees additions, including new lens technologies like Prizm Dark Golf and Prizm Transitions Ember.
New AI Features
Meta is also integrating advanced AI tools to improve the utility of its smart glasses:
- Nutrition Tracking: Users can log meals hands-free via voice commands or by taking a quick photo. Meta AI identifies nutritional details for the food log, providing personalized health insights over time.
- WhatsApp Updates: A new Early Access Program (EAP) feature allows users to request summaries of group chats or recall specific details from messages using voice commands. Meta specifies that these interactions are processed on-device with end-to-end encryption.
- Neural Handwriting: Rolling out globally in the coming weeks, this feature enables users to reply to messages on Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and native mobile apps by tracing characters with their finger on any surface.
