Nintendo Unveils Alarmo: A $100 Motion-Sensing Sleep Clock
Nintendo has officially unveiled its latest hardware release, but it is not the highly anticipated successor to the Switch console. Instead, the gaming company is entering the bedroom with Alarmo, a $100 interactive alarm clock that utilizes motion-sensing technology to change how users wake up.

The device, which previously appeared in Federal Communications Commission filings last month, integrates iconic audio themes from major franchises. Users can wake up to soundscapes inspired by titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
How Alarmo Functions
Unlike traditional alarm clocks, Alarmo is designed to monitor sleep patterns using built-in sensors. This data allows the device to adjust its audio output dynamically. The clock offers two primary wake-up settings:
- Steady Mode: Increases intensity as the user continues to snooze.
- Gentle Mode: Provides a softer auditory experience to transition the user out of sleep.
While the company confirmed in May that a successor to the current Switch console is in development, fans looking for new gaming hardware will have to wait longer. For now, the focus shifts to this bedside peripheral, which is currently available for preorder exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. The device is scheduled to begin shipping to customers in early 2025.
