CONTEUDO:
XReal is expanding its ecosystem with the launch of the Beam Pro, a $200 mobile device specifically engineered to act as a dedicated companion for its augmented reality glasses. Unveiled this week at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) in Southern California, the hardware aims to bridge the gap between standard mobile apps and 3D AR environments.

While the device bears a strong resemblance to a standard smartphone, XReal emphasizes that it is not intended to replace a primary handset. Instead, it functions as a dedicated controller and processing unit for its AR glasses, allowing users to access apps from the Google Play Store within a “3D-aware” interface.
Technical Specifications and Features
The Beam Pro is powered by a Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 14. To facilitate spatial computing, the unit includes dual 50-megapixel cameras capable of capturing 3D imagery and spatial video. The device features a 6.5-inch display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080.
- Connectivity: Dual USB-C ports, allowing users to charge the device while simultaneously connected to the glasses.
- Charging: Supports 27W fast charging.
- Memory and Storage: Available in configurations of 6GB or 8GB of RAM, with storage options of 128GB or 256GB.
- Software: Utilizes NebulaOS, a proprietary layer built over Android designed to render 2D applications in a 3D space.
Qualcomm’s Senior Director, Sahil Bansal, noted that the device is a positive step for the broader AR ecosystem, helping to make the technology more accessible to average users. The project also incorporates cloud-based support from Nvidia, specifically through its CloudXR technology, alongside infrastructure from Amazon Web Services.

The Beam Pro is available for purchase immediately in the United States, Japan, China, and select European markets through the official XReal website. The company plans to expand retail availability to Amazon next month.
