Truecaller Hits 500 Million Monthly Active Users

Truecaller has officially reached a significant operational milestone, surpassing 500 million monthly active users worldwide. The Sweden-based company, known for its caller identification and spam-blocking technology, confirmed that its platform’s user base has doubled over the last five years.

Growth remained consistent throughout the past year, with the service adding 50 million users in 2025 alone. While India remains the company’s largest territory with over 350 million users, Truecaller has successfully expanded its international footprint, now serving 150 million users outside of the Indian market.

Monetization and User Trust

Beyond its massive free user base, the company is seeing traction in its premium segment, with more than 4 million people currently subscribed to paid plans. CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala attributed this growth to the rising global necessity for digital security.

“More and more people need help navigating spam, scams, and unwanted communication every day,” said Jhunjhunwala. “Reaching 500 million users shows the scale of that need, and the trust people place in Truecaller to help make communication safer.”

Expanding Beyond Caller ID

Truecaller is actively evolving its product suite to address sophisticated fraud tactics. Recent initiatives include:

  • Family Group Admin: A feature allowing designated group administrators to end calls on behalf of family members to prevent scams.
  • AI Call Screening: The company is experimenting with artificial intelligence to automatically answer and screen incoming calls.
  • Fraud Detection: Testing of AI-driven monitoring systems designed to flag specific keywords associated with “digital arrest” scams, where fraudsters impersonate law enforcement to extort victims.

Looking ahead, Jhunjhunwala stated that the company is already targeting its next major goal: reaching 1 billion users. This expansion comes as the company navigates a changing regulatory environment, including competition from government-backed initiatives like India’s Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) system, which aims to standardize caller identification based on network-registered KYC data.
