Airbnb Launches Private Car Pickup Service in 125 Cities
Airbnb is broadening its service ecosystem by integrating private car pickup options into its platform. The company confirmed on Tuesday that it has partnered with transportation provider Welcome Pickups to facilitate ride bookings across 125 cities worldwide, including major hubs like Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.
Streamlining Guest Arrivals
The rollout follows a successful pilot program conducted throughout the year across Europe and Asia. According to the company, the trial saw thousands of bookings, maintaining an average guest satisfaction rating of 4.96.
The integration is designed for seamless management within the Airbnb app. Once a reservation is confirmed in a supported city, guests can access the “Trips” tab to schedule their private transport. The interface allows users to monitor reservation details and adjust booking information without leaving the application.
“Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive,” said Dave Stephenson, chief business officer at Airbnb.
Expanding the Service Ecosystem
This initiative represents a significant step in Airbnb’s strategy to transition into a comprehensive travel provider. The company previously introduced a services category last summer, offering access to professional chefs, catering, photography, spa treatments, and personal training across eight countries.
The platform has been steadily building its “full stack” of offerings, which includes a November partnership with Instacart for grocery delivery in select U.S. markets. Furthermore, the company is experimenting with hotel room bookings to capture a wider share of the travel market.
During the Q4 2025 earnings call, CEO Brian Chesky emphasized the potential of the hotel segment, noting that these expansions aim to position the platform as a central component of every trip, regardless of the guest’s preferred type of accommodation.
Airbnb intends to scale the availability of the private car service to additional locations throughout the remainder of the year.
