Lego Fortnite Update v28.10 Adds Launch Pads and Fixes Bugs

Epic Games has released the first significant update for Lego Fortnite, version v28.10, aiming to refine the survival crafting experience that attracted 2.4 million concurrent players at its debut last month. While the patch stops short of adding entirely new biomes, it delivers a suite of quality-of-life adjustments and technical fixes designed to smooth out early-game frustrations.
Improving Traversal and Construction
The most notable addition is the launch pad, a mobility tool that allows players to traverse the game’s vast, procedurally generated maps more efficiently. This item serves as a functional alternative to the tedious practice of constructing massive staircases to navigate terrain, offering a more streamlined way to move across the world.
The update also refines the building experience. Structures now automatically clear nearby flora, and developers have improved how pieces snap onto sloped surfaces. Additionally, new wall, floor, and roof segments have been introduced, providing more versatility for players looking to execute complex architectural designs.
Refining Gameplay and Villager AI
Beyond construction, Epic has addressed several behavioral issues with non-player characters. Villagers now possess the ability to open doors, a change that prevents them from becoming trapped outside of gates. The update also welcomes three new recruits: Bushranger, Rustler, and Tomatohead.
For those focused on aesthetics, more skins have received the “Lego Style” treatment, including characters like Spider-Man and Ahsoka Tano. Technical performance has also been a focus, with the official patch notes detailing a long list of bug squashes, including a fix for an issue where players would occasionally spawn trapped beneath buildings.
Lingering Limitations
Despite these improvements, some core constraints remain. The server cap remains fixed at 15 villagers, a restriction that continues to limit the scale of multiplayer settlements. Additionally, players are still waiting for expanded content such as new biomes. The update also leaves some ambiguity regarding whether it addresses the “high complexity area” errors that have impacted performance on various hardware configurations.
These refinements arrive as Epic continues to evolve the broader Fortnite ecosystem. By positioning Lego Fortnite alongside titles like Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival, the company is diversifying its platform to reach audiences beyond the traditional battle royale demographic, leaning into “cozy” gaming loops reminiscent of titles like Animal Crossing and Valheim.
