Google Expands Search Live AI Globally to 200 Countries

Google is bringing its conversational AI-powered search experience, Search Live, to a global audience. The feature, which offers real-time assistance through camera visual context and voice, is now rolling out across more than 200 countries and territories wherever AI Mode is supported.

Originally introduced in July 2025, Search Live was previously limited to users in the United States and India. The tool allows individuals to point their smartphone cameras at physical objects, initiating a back-and-forth dialogue where the AI processes the visual feed to provide immediate, context-aware answers.

Enhanced Conversational Capabilities

This international expansion is powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, Google’s latest audio and voice model. According to the company, this iteration is engineered to provide more intuitive and natural interactions during live sessions.

To access the tool, users can navigate to the Google app on either Android or iOS and select the “Live” icon located beneath the search bar. The workflow is designed for efficiency:

• Users ask questions aloud and receive spoken audio responses.
• Follow-up questions can be asked to refine the inquiry.
• Web links are provided for users who wish to explore topics in greater detail.
• The camera can be used to provide visual data, such as showing the AI a furniture assembly project to receive real-time installation guidance.

For those already utilizing Google Lens, the “Live” feature is also accessible by tapping the dedicated button at the bottom of the camera interface. As Google stated in a recent announcement, the technology serves as a bridge for moments where traditional text-based queries are insufficient.

Updates to Live Translate

Alongside the Search Live expansion, Google is broadening the reach of its “Live Translate” feature. The tool, which provides real-time audio translations directly to headphones, is now arriving on iOS devices.

The update also includes a wider geographic footprint, with support reaching countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. With these additions, the service now supports real-time translation across more than 70 languages for both Android and iOS users.
