Amazon Brings AI-Powered Alexa+ to New Fire TV Lineup

Amazon is significantly upgrading the intelligence of its living room ecosystem with the introduction of Alexa+. Revealed at the company’s fall hardware event in New York, the enhanced AI aims to transform how users interact with their televisions through more conversational and context-aware voice commands.

The Alexa+ integration will debut on a fresh lineup of hardware, including the new Fire TV 4K Select streaming stick and updated versions of the 2-Series, 4-Series, and Omni QLED television sets. Beyond Amazon’s own branded hardware, the company confirmed that selected television models from Panasonic and Hisense will also receive the upgrade.

Enhanced Conversational Capabilities

Alexa+ moves beyond simple binary requests. Users can now engage the AI with complex queries, such as seeking recommendations based on viewing history, specific actors, or moods. The system also allows for real-time interaction during content playback, enabling users to ask about filming locations, soundtrack details, or behind-the-scenes trivia without interrupting the flow of the show.

For sports fans, the update provides a more dynamic experience. Alexa+ can pull live scores, player statistics, and help users navigate live broadcasts across services like Prime Video, Sling TV, DirecTV, and Fubo. Additionally, the AI can now locate specific scenes within movies and shows on Prime Video using natural language, a feature Amazon plans to expand to other platforms soon.

New Hardware Portfolio

Aidan Marcuss, VP of Fire TV, noted that Amazon has collaborated with partners to launch 250 different TV models in 2025 alone, with the global install base of Fire TV devices now approaching 300 million units.

The updated hardware lineup includes:

• Fire TV Omni QLED Series: The new flagship models feature 60% higher brightness and double the local dimming zones compared to previous versions. Starting at $479.99, these units include an upgraded processor and support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ Adaptive.
• Fire TV 2-Series and 4-Series: Equipped with a new quad-core processor that delivers a 30% speed increase, these models introduce “Omnisense” for auto-adjusting screen brightness and “Dialogue Boost” to clarify audio. The 2-Series starts at $159.99, while the 4-Series begins at $329.99.
• Fire TV Stick 4K Select: Priced at $39.99, this budget-friendly streaming device runs on Amazon’s new Vega OS and includes HDR 10+ support, with future updates planned for Alexa+, Xbox Gaming, and Luna integration.

Alongside the AI and hardware updates, Amazon is rolling out interface improvements to the Fire TV software, specifically targeting the Channel Guide, Watchlist, and “Continue Watching” rows to simplify content discovery.
