CONTEUDO:
Netflix is expanding its interactive capabilities with the introduction of a live voting feature, designed to let subscribers participate directly in broadcasts. This new tool will make its debut during the premiere of the talent show Star Search, scheduled for January 20.

How the Voting Mechanics Work
The system is designed for global availability, allowing users to cast their decisions in real time. Participants can engage with the show using either their television remote or the Netflix mobile application. The voting options include:
- Selecting from a multiple-choice menu.
- Rating performances on a five-star scale.
The platform will process these inputs instantly. However, participation is strictly time-sensitive; once the voting window for a specific segment closes, no further submissions are accepted. This means users watching the show on-demand after the live broadcast will not be able to influence the results.
Building Deeper Viewer Immersion
According to Stone, the feature is intended to bridge the gap between passive viewing and active participation. By allowing subscribers to help decide which contestants advance, the company aims to make viewers feel like they are integral parts of the storytelling process.
This initiative represents a strategic convergence of Netflix’s recent investments. The streamer has steadily increased its presence in live programming, including events like “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney,” “Dinner Time Live with David Chang,” and sports broadcasts such as the NFL Christmas special. By marrying these live efforts with the interactive gaming technology rolled out for smart TVs in October, the company is positioning itself to offer more complex, multi-device experiences in the future.
