Spotify Raises US Subscription Prices to $12.99
Spotify has officially increased the monthly cost of its subscription plan in the United States, moving the price from $11.99 to $12.99. This adjustment marks the third time in three years that the audio streaming giant has raised rates for its American customer base.
The company is notifying current subscribers via email, confirming that the new pricing structure will take effect starting with the next monthly billing cycle.

Financial Impact and Strategic Context
In an official statement, the company framed the decision as a reflection of the platform’s utility. “Occasional updates to pricing across our markets reflect the value that Spotify delivers, enabling us to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists,” the firm noted.
Analysts from JPMorgan had previously projected that this move could generate an additional $500 million in revenue for the streaming service. This follows a report from the Financial Times in November 2025, which accurately anticipated the price increase for the first quarter of 2026.
Historical Pricing Trends
The latest hike continues a pattern of steady price growth for Spotify users in the US:
- 2023: The individual plan rose from $9.99 to $10.99 per month.
- June 2024: A second increase added another $1 to the monthly subscription.
- 2026: The current adjustment brings the rate to $12.99.
Beyond the United States, Spotify has implemented similar pricing changes in international markets, including the United Kingdom and Switzerland, throughout the past year. In this current wave of updates, Estonia and Latvia are also seeing price increases.
According to the company’s Q3 2025 financial results, Spotify maintains a global base of more than 281 million paid subscribers, with North America accounting for roughly 25% of that total.
