Adobe brings Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat to ChatGPT
Adobe is expanding its ecosystem by integrating core functionalities from Photoshop, Acrobat, and Express directly into ChatGPT. This strategic move allows users to execute complex creative and document-related tasks—such as image manipulation, PDF editing, and animation—without leaving the OpenAI interface.
New Creative Capabilities in Chat
The integration transforms how users interact with Adobe’s toolset. Through natural language prompts, users can now leverage Photoshop to perform specific adjustments, including:
- Removing or blurring image backgrounds.
- Fine-tuning exposure, brightness, and contrast.
- Applying various visual effects with adjustable intensity sliders.
For those utilizing Adobe Express, the connection allows for the retrieval of existing library designs, assembly of themed creative assets, and the animation of specific elements. Meanwhile, Acrobat integration streamlines document management, offering features to merge files and extract tables or text directly within the chat window.
Availability and Platform Support
The roll-out is global, though platform compatibility varies. While Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat features are accessible across ChatGPT’s web, desktop, and iOS versions, Android users currently have access only to Adobe Express tools. Adobe confirmed that full support for Photoshop and Acrobat on Android is in development.
For complex tasks that exceed the capabilities of the chatbot, Adobe provides a seamless hand-off, allowing users to transition their projects directly into the standalone Adobe applications.
Competitive Landscape
This integration marks another step in Adobe’s aggressive AI expansion, which included the launch of AI assistants for Photoshop and Express in October, as well as the unveiling of “Project Moonlight,” a cross-app assistant. The move places Adobe in direct competition with other third-party integrations already present in ChatGPT, such as Canva, as companies vie for dominance within the growing chatbot workspace.
