Oura Ring 5 Launches With Slimmer Design and New Health Tools
Oura has officially introduced its fifth-generation smart ring, marking a significant hardware overhaul aimed at making the wearable less intrusive. The new model, which the company claims is its smallest to date, arrives just 18 months after the debut of the Ring 4, reflecting an accelerated development cycle driven by increasing competition in the smart ring market.

According to Maz Brumand, VP of Product at Oura, the engineering team completely redesigned the internal architecture—covering mechanical, electrical, optical, and battery components—to achieve a 40% reduction in overall size. The new iteration is roughly 30% thinner and two millimeters narrower than the previous generation, a change directly requested by the user base to ensure the device feels more like traditional jewelry.
Pricing and Availability
The Ring 5 is available for preorder immediately, with shipping scheduled to begin on June 4. The pricing structure varies by finish:
- $399: Silver, Black, and Brushed Silver.
- $499: Gold, Deep Rose, and Stealth.
Enhanced Health Monitoring
Beyond the hardware, Oura is rolling out a “Health Radar” feature set designed to identify biometric shifts. This includes:
- Blood Pressure Signals: Monitors cardiovascular patterns during sleep, providing alerts when readings deviate from stable baselines.
- Nighttime Breathing: Offers a 30-day rolling analysis of respiratory patterns and disturbances.
- On-Demand Care: A partnership with Counsel Health allows U.S. members to access medical advice from licensed physicians directly through the Oura app for an additional fee.

Activity and Brain Health
The device also introduces live activity tracking, allowing users to view real-time metrics like pace and distance on their phones during workouts. Battery performance has seen an uptick, now offering six to nine days of life, up from the five to eight days provided by the Ring 4.

Finally, Oura is expanding its research scope by initiating a Brain Health Study. This program invites eligible members to participate in in-app tasks to help the company map how lifestyle choices and recovery periods influence long-term cognitive health and mental acuity.
