Vertu Launches $6,880 AI Foldable for Enterprise CEOs
Vertu is targeting the C-suite with its latest luxury device, the Alphafold, a foldable smartphone equipped with an AI agent designed to manage enterprise workflows and corporate communications. The handset, which begins shipping its initial 115-unit batch this week, carries a starting price of $6,880 for the calfskin edition.
The device represents a strategic pivot for the Hong Kong-based brand, which aims to carve out a niche in the AI era by blending high-end craftsmanship with professional-grade automation. While luxury models featuring 18K gold, alligator leather, and diamond accents can reach prices as high as $46,800, the core value proposition lies in its integration with business infrastructure.
Enterprise AI Integration
At the heart of the Alphafold is the “Hermes Agent,” built upon the open-source Hermes project by Nous Research. The system is designed to interface directly with enterprise tools, including ERP and CRM platforms. Through natural-language prompts, users can perform complex operational tasks, such as:
- Coordinating sales tracking and travel planning.
- Managing approvals and scheduling.
- Generating operational reports.
- Executing cross-platform workflows across more than 80 integrated applications.
According to Vertu, the software can route requests across multiple leading AI models, including OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Google’s Gemini, alongside various open-source alternatives. CEO Molly Ma noted that while mainstream manufacturers focus on consumer-facing features like image editing, the Alphafold is built to fill the gap for advanced, agentic enterprise workflows.
Privacy and Hardware Specifications
To address concerns regarding data security, Vertu has implemented a proprietary A5 security chip. This hardware is intended to isolate sensitive enterprise information, biometric credentials, and authentication keys from the main operating system. The company states that commercially sensitive data is processed locally, with prompts sent to external models undergoing redaction or tokenization.
While Vertu emphasizes this privacy-focused architecture, the company confirmed that the system has not yet undergone independent third-party security audits. However, leadership has committed to pursuing such certifications as the product matures.
The device itself is built for power and durability, featuring:
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
- Display: 8.05-inch foldable inner screen and 6.53-inch outer display.
- Battery: 6,500 mAh capacity.
- Build: A hinge constructed of titanium, metal, and carbon fiber, rated for 650,000 folds.

Market Context
The launch arrives as the foldable market remains a small segment of the global smartphone industry. Data from IDC indicates that foldables accounted for less than 2% of total shipments in 2025, with an average price point of $1,300. Kiranjeet Kaur, associate research director for mobile phones at IDC, suggested that while the larger displays of foldables are ideal for multitasking, enterprise adoption remains heavily influenced by established device management and ecosystem support rather than AI features alone.
