Bending Spoons Files for US IPO After Aggressive Expansion
Bending Spoons, the Italian software studio behind major digital platforms including Vimeo, Eventbrite, and WeTransfer, has officially filed for an initial public offering in the United States. The move positions the company among a wave of high-profile firms, such as Anthropic and SpaceX, targeting market debuts this summer.

Financial Performance and Growth
The company’s regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission reveals a significant scale of operations. Bending Spoons currently reports more than 500 million monthly active users and maintains a base of 9 million paying subscribers. The firm’s business model centers heavily on recurring revenue, with subscriptions accounting for 84% of its total income.
Key financial highlights from the filing include:
- Annual Revenue: Ended the most recent year with $1.31 billion.
- Q1 Growth: Generated $601 million in the first quarter, marking a 132% increase year-on-year.
- Profitability: Recorded $27.4 million in profit for Q1 2026.
An Aggressive Acquisition Strategy
Bending Spoons has executed over 50 acquisitions to date, a portfolio that includes recognizable names like Evernote, AOL, Komoot, and Brightcove. The firm’s operational playbook typically involves identifying distressed or underperforming assets, restructuring internal teams, and implementing new subscription-based strategies to drive the businesses toward profitability.
Valuation and Institutional Backing
The company’s market valuation has surged in recent years. After being valued at $2.8 billion in 2024, the business saw its valuation climb to $11 billion during a funding round last year. Reports from Reuters in April suggested that the firm could aim for a valuation as high as $20 billion for the upcoming IPO.
The company is supported by a roster of major institutional investors. Baillie Gifford holds a significant stake in the business, joined by other prominent backers including Fidelity, Durable Capital Partners, and Cox Enterprises.
