The update mirrors the utility of Grok on X, enabling users to mention Meta AI within a post or reply to prompt the chatbot for answers. According to Meta, the tool is intended to provide immediate insights into breaking news, current trends, and personalized recommendations without requiring users to navigate away from the app.
How the Meta AI Integration Functions
Once mentioned, Meta AI processes the query and generates a public response from the @meta.ai account. The bot is designed to reply in the same language used in the original post. Potential use cases highlighted by Meta include:
- Inquiring about trending topics, such as major sports events or fashion galas.
- Seeking explanations for viral news stories.
- Requesting real-time updates or context on specific discussions.
By bringing AI into the feed, the platform aims to evolve beyond a simple discussion board, positioning itself as an information hub. However, the move introduces potential moderation challenges. - Selecting the “Not interested” option on any Meta AI-generated post.
- Hiding specific Meta AI replies that appear on their own threads.
The company stated it is currently gathering feedback from the initial testing phase to refine the tool’s performance. Future expansion to additional regions and users remains dependent on the results of these early trials.
