Roblox Officially Launches on Meta Quest VR Headsets

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg officially confirmed the arrival of Roblox on Meta Quest virtual reality headsets during the company’s Connect keynote event. The move marks a significant expansion for the gaming platform, which had been preparing for a move into standalone VR throughout the year.

The platform is compatible with the Quest 2 and Quest Pro, and will also support the newly unveiled $500 Quest 3. “Roblox is launching today,” Zuckerberg stated during the presentation. “I’m really excited for this one. After taking a long time to optimize it for VR, it’s going to be a big deal.”

Bridging the Gap to Standalone VR

While Roblox has long supported various hardware setups, including the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, those experiences traditionally required users to tether their headsets to a PC. The native Quest application simplifies this process, allowing for direct downloads from the Meta Quest Store.

The integration follows a period of testing that began in July, when Meta introduced an open beta via the App Lab. This transition aligns with long-term goals expressed by Roblox leadership. As early as 2021, Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki noted during an investor call that bringing the platform to Quest made “perfect sense” for the company’s growth strategy.
