CONTEUDO:
YouTube Music is rolling out a suite of new features aimed at tightening the bond between artists and their listeners. Unveiled during the company’s Made On event, the update introduces tools for managing release hype, delivering exclusive media, and facilitating merchandise sales.
The platform is prioritizing fan retention by providing creators with more direct ways to reward their top supporters. These additions follow a series of recent updates, including collaborative playlists and album commenting, which coincided with the streaming service’s 10th anniversary.

New Tools for Fan Interaction
Starting early next year, the platform will enable artists to share specialized content directly with their most loyal audience members. This includes:
- Exclusive “thank you” videos.
- Behind-the-scenes footage and clips.
- A pilot program for U.S. users featuring exclusive merchandise drops.
These initiatives mirror efforts by competitors like Spotify, which has also been developing features tailored toward “super fans.”

Managing Release Anticipation
To help build momentum for upcoming projects, YouTube Music will introduce a countdown feature later this year. Listeners will be able to pre-save albums and tracks, with a visual timer appearing on artist profiles, album shelves, and detail pages.
This functionality is designed to streamline the marketing process for musicians, providing a centralized hub for fans to track new releases. It bears a functional similarity to Countdown Pages on Spotify, offering a familiar experience for users accustomed to real-time release updates.
