CONTEUDO:

YouTube is doubling down on its podcasting strategy by integrating artificial intelligence to help creators maximize their reach. During the “Made on YouTube” event in New York on Tuesday, the platform unveiled upcoming features designed to simplify content repurposing and expand the presence of audio-only shows.

Streamlining Content Creation

The platform is introducing automated solutions to help video podcasters generate clips more efficiently. These tools, which leverage AI to suggest highlights, will be available to U.S. creators in the coming months. A follow-up feature, scheduled for early next year, will allow creators to transform those generated clips directly into YouTube Shorts.

For audio-only podcasters, YouTube is developing a way to bridge the gap into video formats. The company plans to launch a tool early next year that uses AI to generate customizable videos for audio content. Access will initially be limited to “select podcasters,” with a broader rollout intended for later in 2026.

Market Context and Growth

These initiatives arrive as YouTube faces stiff competition for listener attention from platforms like Spotify, which has been aggressively expanding its own podcasting ecosystem with video support, interactive features like polls and Q&As, and monetization tools.

YouTube’s push for easier content creation is intended to drive engagement and help viewers discover new podcasts. Data provided by the company highlights the scale of this consumption:

  • As of July 2025, users consume over 100 million hours of podcasts daily.
  • More than 30% of those daily hours originate from livestreams or premieres.
  • The platform had previously announced reaching 1 billion monthly podcast viewers as of February.
