Spotify AI DJ Expands to New Languages and Markets

Spotify is significantly broadening the reach of its interactive AI DJ feature, adding support for four new languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Previously limited to English and Spanish, the tool now offers a more localized experience for millions of listeners around the world.

Spotify’s AI DJ now supports French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese

To coincide with this language rollout, the streaming giant is launching the feature in several new territories, including Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland. With these additions, the AI DJ is now accessible to users in more than 75 countries.

Localized Personalities

The company has introduced specific personas for the AI DJ to ensure the commentary feels natural within each language. The new voices and personalities include:

  • Maia
  • Ben
  • Alex
  • Dani

Evolution of the AI DJ

While the AI DJ initially functioned primarily as a curated radio host that provided commentary between tracks based on user preferences, Spotify has aggressively evolved the feature. Since an update in May 2025, the tool has become increasingly conversational.

Users can now interact with the AI DJ much like they would with large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. This functionality allows listeners to:

  • Request specific changes to the current mood or genre.
  • Prompt the AI to play particular tracks or artists.
  • Engage in interactive dialogue regarding their music library.

This update is part of a broader strategy by Spotify to integrate generative AI across its platform. The company continues to experiment with AI-driven tools, including features that allow users to generate custom playlists for both music and podcasts simply by describing their desired audio experience in natural language.
