Spotify Now Supports AI-Generated Personal Podcasts

Spotify is expanding its platform to accommodate the growing trend of AI-generated personal audio. The company has introduced a new command-line interface (CLI) tool in beta, designed to allow users to import custom-made podcasts directly into their Spotify library.

Spotify wants to become the home for AI-generated personal audio

This development follows the rise of AI tools like Google’s NotebookLM, Hero, and Adobe Acrobat, which enable users to transform documents, schedules, and articles into audio formats. By integrating these files into Spotify, the company aims to become the primary hub for users to consume their AI-curated content alongside their regular music and podcasts.

To utilize this feature, users currently need to employ specific programming tools. According to the company, the process is compatible with several AI coding assistants:

  • OpenAI’s Codex
  • Anthropic’s Claude Code
  • OpenClaw

The Spotify CLI tool allows for the creation and seamless transfer of these audio files. Once imported, the podcasts appear exclusively in the user’s personal library and are not discoverable or accessible by other Spotify users.

Regarding the motivation behind the launch, the company noted in a blog post that consumers are increasingly relying on AI agents to manage daily tasks. “People are already starting to use their agents to create personal audio that guides their day: from summaries of class notes before an exam to briefings of what’s on their calendar,” the company stated.

To get started, users must visit the tool’s GitHub page and follow the provided instructions, which include authenticating their Spotify account via a web browser. Once connected, users can generate specific audio content—such as detailed historical overviews or personalized briefings—and trigger the agent to save the resulting audio file directly to their Spotify account. The system also provides a direct link to the listing for easy retrieval.
