AMC Reveals The Audacity: Silicon Valley Dark Comedy

AMC unveiled the first look at its upcoming series, The Audacity, during the Variety Entertainment Summit at CES 2026. Created by Jonathan Glatzer, known for his work on Succession, Better Call Saul, and Bloodline, the show centers on the figures behind the technological infrastructure defining modern life.

Dan McDermott, chief content officer at AMC Networks and president of AMC Studios, emphasized the significance of the series’ subject matter. “They’re literally laying the cement on the freeway that we’re all driving down with things like AI, data collection, social media, etc.,” McDermott said. “There couldn’t be any more important group to be taking a deep-dive look at than the men and women in Silicon Valley who are shaping the lives that we live.”

A Dark Satire of Modern Tech

The series adopts a dark comedy tone to examine the industry. Actor Billy Magnussen, who stars in the project, noted, “Silicon Valley is one of those times in our modern era which is defining humanity. And what better place to make a dark comedy than in that place that develops our society at this point?”

The narrative unfolds within a fictional universe, deliberately avoiding the use of real company names or cameos from actual high-profile tech figures. The cast includes:

Character Dynamics and Themes

While the show is fictional, the character archetypes reflect the tensions of the digital age. Simon Helberg portrays a “maladjusted genius” developing an AI therapy application for teenagers. Despite his professional focus on digital connection, his personal life is marked by isolation, particularly in his strained relationship with his daughter.

“There’s loneliness, I think, at the heart of all the characters, and they’re all trying to connect, and they’re trying to connect through technology, which has some pitfalls,” Helberg explained.

Attendees at the CES event viewed two exclusive clips from the series. One scene depicted a tense encounter in a restaurant where a pitch by Magnussen’s character is met with a physical outburst from Galifianakis. A second clip highlighted the detachment of Helberg’s character, who opts to use his daughter’s facial expressions of annoyance as training data for his AI rather than engaging with her emotionally.

The Audacity is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, April 12, on AMC and AMC+.
