Apple Health Adds Perimenopause Tracking Features

Apple is expanding its digital health portfolio with new tools designed to support women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Announced during the WWDC 2026 event this Monday, the update integrates these features directly into the existing cycle-tracking capabilities of the Health app.

Apple’s Health app can now tell you if you’re in perimenopause

Since the introduction of cycle tracking on the Apple Watch and iOS in 2019, the company has steadily increased its focus on reproductive health monitoring. This latest enhancement arrives as perimenopause gains significant visibility in mainstream media and cultural discourse, reflecting a growing demand for accessible digital health solutions.

Enhanced Monitoring and Education

Stacey Ford, vice president of OS Product Management at Apple, explained that the new functionality is designed to provide users with greater clarity regarding their health status. The system will now be capable of notifying users when their recorded cycle patterns suggest the transition into perimenopause.

Beyond simple tracking, the update aims to facilitate better clinical conversations. Ford noted that users can log specific symptoms and access educational resources, stating: “so you can understand more about what’s going on with your body and be better prepared to talk to your doctor.”

A Growing Market

The move aligns with broader industry trends where digital health tools targeting the postmenopausal demographic have seen substantial investment. Data published in the journal Menopause indicates that as of last year, approximately 1.1 billion women worldwide were postmenopausal.

The commercial interest in this sector is evident in recent venture capital activity. For instance, Midi Health, a startup focused on perimenopause and menopause care, recently secured $100 million in a Series D funding round led by Goodwater Capital. This investment brought the company to a $1 billion valuation, underscoring the significant market potential for specialized health technology in this space.
