Atari Gamestation Go: Retro Handheld Arrives in Q3 2025
Atari is targeting the niche retro gaming market with a new portable console, the Gamestation Go. Developed in partnership with My Arcade, the device is slated for a Q3 2025 release with a retail price of $149.
The handheld features a 7-inch display and comes preloaded with a library of more than 200 titles spanning various generations of Atari hardware. While portable emulators are common in the current gaming landscape, this device distinguishes itself through its focus on authentic control schemes for vintage software.
Hardware and Control Features
The Gamestation Go incorporates a variety of input methods designed to replicate the feel of classic Atari experiences, including:
- A dedicated number pad located on the side of the screen.
- A trackball, D-pad, and dial positioned to the left of the display.
- Four letter-labeled buttons above the primary controls.
- L and R shoulder buttons for additional input, such as controlling pinball flippers in titles like Balls of Steel.
To assist players, the console features an integrated lighting system that automatically illuminates the specific control set required for whichever game is currently being played.
Home Console Functionality
Beyond its primary use as a handheld device, the console includes an HDMI output port located on the top of the unit. This allows users to connect the Gamestation Go to a television, effectively mirroring the gameplay experience to a larger screen.
