Atlassian Adds AI Agents and Visual Tools to Confluence

Atlassian has unveiled a suite of artificial intelligence features for its collaboration platform Confluence, designed to automate the conversion of internal data into visual content and functional software prototypes. The update shifts the platform’s role from a static document repository to an active engine for creation.

Atlassian launches visual AI tools and third-party agents in Confluence

The centerpiece of this rollout is “Remix,” currently in open beta. This tool analyzes data stored within Confluence pages and automatically generates visual assets, such as charts and infographics. By suggesting the most effective visual format for specific data sets, Remix allows users to create professional-grade graphics directly within the platform, eliminating the need to export information to external design software.

Expanding Capabilities with Third-Party Agents

Beyond visual generation, Atlassian is integrating three specialized third-party agents into Confluence, leveraging model context protocols (MCPs) to streamline technical workflows:

  • Lovable: Enables users to transform product concepts and existing data into functional prototypes.
  • Replit: Facilitates the conversion of technical documentation into starter applications.
  • Gamma: Automates the creation of slide decks and presentation materials based on existing project content.

Sanchan Saxena, Atlassian’s senior vice president of teamwork collaboration, emphasized the strategic shift in a blog post. According to Saxena, these tools allow a single page to serve as a “source of truth” that evolves into deliverables for leaders, builders, and customers alike. “When you remove that friction, teams do more than manage documents; they create the next generation of products and experiences,” he noted.

Industry Shift Toward Embedded AI

These features represent a broader industry trend of embedding AI agents into existing enterprise workflows rather than forcing users to adopt standalone AI platforms. Atlassian has been steadily pursuing this strategy, notably adding AI agents to its Jira project management software earlier this February.

Major players are following a similar trajectory. While Salesforce initially launched a dedicated platform with Agentforce in 2024, it has increasingly prioritized bringing AI innovations directly into tools like Slack. Similarly, OpenAI has launched its “Frontier Alliances” initiative, which focuses on integrating its technology into the existing tech stacks of client firms rather than strictly promoting standalone ChatGPT Enterprise subscriptions.

“Technology should fade into the background and let people focus on their best work,” Saxena added regarding the company’s design philosophy for these new integrations.
