Google Launches CC: An AI Email Assistant for Daily Tasks

Google is expanding its artificial intelligence footprint in the productivity sector with the launch of “CC,” an experimental assistant accessible through Google Labs. Built on the Gemini model, the tool aims to streamline daily workflows by centralizing information directly within a user’s inbox.

The core feature of this assistant is the “Your Day Ahead” email. This daily briefing aggregates data from a user’s Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, providing a consolidated overview of upcoming tasks, meeting schedules, and urgent updates without requiring the user to switch between multiple applications.

Interactive Capabilities

Beyond passive summaries, CC is designed for two-way communication. Users can interact with the assistant by sending emails to it directly to perform several administrative functions:

• Adding items to to-do lists.
• Recording notes for later recall.
• Searching for specific information across connected accounts.
• Customizing the assistant’s behavior based on user preferences.

Availability and Requirements

As of its initial rollout, the experimental tool is subject to specific usage criteria:

• Geographic Restrictions: Currently limited to users in the United States and Canada.
• Account Type: Restricted to consumer Google accounts; it is not yet compatible with Workspace accounts.
• Subscription/Age: Accessible to AI Pro and Ultra users who are 18 years of age or older.

The introduction of CC places Google in a growing market of AI-driven organizational tools. Other platforms, such as the Sequoia-backed Mindy, have previously utilized email as a primary interface for task management. Similarly, services like Read AI and Fireflies offer daily recaps, though CC distinguishes itself by natively integrating context from the broader Google ecosystem, including Drive and Gmail.
