Google unveils Antigravity 2.0 at I/O 2026 for agentic coding

Google officially debuted Antigravity 2.0 during its I/O 2026 conference, significantly expanding its footprint in the agentic coding sector. The updated platform introduces a dedicated desktop application, a command-line interface (CLI) tool, and a robust SDK designed to streamline complex development workflows.

Originally launched last year as a direct competitor to tools like Cursor, Antigravity has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem. The new desktop client allows programmers to orchestrate multiple agents simultaneously, design custom subagent workflows, and schedule background tasks to improve productivity.

Enhanced Ecosystem and Integration

At the core of this release is the integration of the Gemini 3.5 Flash model, which Google notes was itself co-developed using the Antigravity platform. Beyond the new interface, the company is prioritizing accessibility and connectivity across its existing developer stack:

• Native Voice Support: Similar to features recently rolled out for Gmail and Docs, Antigravity now supports voice commands for hands-free coding.
• Seamless Connectivity: Projects can now be integrated directly with Google AI Studio, Android, and Firebase.
• Developer Tools: A new CLI tool is now available for terminal-based agent creation, with Google requesting that existing Gemini CLI users migrate to this updated utility.
• SDK and Cloud: An Antigravity SDK allows for the creation of custom agents, while Google Cloud customers gain direct connectivity to the platform.

New Subscription Tiers

To accommodate varying levels of demand, Google is restructuring its pricing. The company introduced a new $100 AI Ultra plan, which provides five times the usage limits of the Pro tier. Simultaneously, the premium $250 plan has been reduced to $200, offering 20 times the usage limits of the Pro plan. This move mirrors the tiered subscription strategies recently adopted by other major AI labs, such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Google is also embedding Antigravity’s capabilities directly into consumer-facing products. Notably, Google Search will now generate custom user interfaces in real time, allowing individuals to build mini-apps while exploring topics directly within their search results.
