inDrive Acquires Krave Mart to Scale Pakistan Grocery Service

The ride-hailing platform inDrive has finalized the acquisition of the Pakistani startup Krave Mart. The move marks a significant step in the Mountain View-based company’s strategy to evolve from a pure transportation provider into a comprehensive super-app offering grocery delivery and commerce services.

The all-stock transaction received formal authorization from the Competition Commission of Pakistan. While inDrive chose not to disclose the specific financial terms of the deal, the agreement follows a strategic investment made by the company in Krave Mart back in December 2024.

Expanding the Super-App Strategy

Krave Mart, established in 2021, specializes in rapid grocery fulfillment through a network of dark stores. Currently, the service is operational in:

  • Karachi
  • Rawalpindi
  • Lahore

Andries Smit, chief growth businesses officer at inDrive, expressed satisfaction with the regulatory approval. He confirmed that the company is actively scaling its “inDrive.Groceries” brand, noting that both the Krave Mart and inDrive brands will maintain operations in Karachi as the integration progresses.

Market Challenges and Competitive Landscape

The entry into Pakistan’s quick-commerce sector presents a steep challenge. Industry analysts point to the dominant position of Foodpanda, which has maintained a stronghold in the region for over a decade with the backing of the German group Delivery Hero. Success in this vertical requires substantial capital and time to achieve profitability, a hurdle that new entrants must navigate carefully.

For inDrive, the acquisition is supported by a dedicated venture and mergers-and-acquisitions arm created in November 2023. This division manages a $100 million fund intended to fuel the company’s diversification efforts over the coming years.

Global Reach and Operational Scale

inDrive currently maintains a presence in more than 1,000 cities across 48 countries. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the company’s significant market footprint, identifying it as the world’s second-most downloaded ride-hailing application since 2022, with over 400 million total downloads.

Beyond its global standing, inDrive holds the top spot for ride-hailing downloads in nine nations, including Egypt, Morocco, Peru, Panama, and Pakistan. This existing user base serves as the foundation for the firm’s broader ambitions in the grocery delivery space, which began with a pilot launch in Kazakhstan in September 2025 before arriving in Pakistan this past January.
