Instacart Acquires Instaleap to Boost Global Enterprise Tech

Instacart announced on Tuesday its acquisition of Instaleap, a Colombian grocery technology firm, marking a strategic move to push its enterprise platform into global markets. Financial details regarding the transaction remain confidential.

Instacart acquires Instaleap to expand its enterprise platform internationally

Scaling Beyond North America

While Instacart remains primarily recognized for its delivery operations in North America, this deal provides a clear path for international growth. By integrating Instaleap’s infrastructure, the company can deploy its enterprise solutions abroad without the immediate need to establish its own delivery networks in those regions.

Instaleap, established in 2019, specializes in fulfillment solutions that assist retailers in managing and scaling online operations. Its footprint currently spans nearly 30 countries across three key regions:

  • Latin America
  • Europe
  • The Middle East

Integrating Retail Technology

The acquisition complements Instacart’s existing suite of retail services. The company currently manages several enterprise products, including:

  • Storefront Pro: Supports e-commerce operations for over 380 grocers, such as Aldi, Costco, Publix, and Sprouts.
  • Carrot Ads: Enables more than 310 retailers to manage in-store and online advertising.

Following the acquisition, Instaleap will function as a wholly owned subsidiary of Instacart. The parent company intends to gradually integrate more of its proprietary enterprise technology into Instaleap’s existing partner ecosystem.

Strategic Leadership Perspectives

Ryan Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer at Instacart, framed the move as a core component of the company’s enterprise-led global strategy. “With the addition of Instaleap’s technology, international expertise, and deep retail relationships, we can accelerate our international expansion and better serve retailers and consumers around the world,” Hamburger stated.

Antonio dos Santos Nunes, co-founder and CEO of Instaleap, highlighted the alignment between the two organizations. In a press release, he noted, “Joining Instacart enables us to scale our impact with the support of a trusted partner that shares our commitment to retailer success.”
