LinkedIn Launches Verified AI Skills Certifications

LinkedIn is rolling out a new program that allows professionals to display verified AI skills directly on their profiles. Announced Wednesday, the initiative leverages usage data from popular artificial intelligence tools to validate a user’s technical proficiency.

The platform is collaborating with several key players in the AI space to power these certifications. Initial partners include coding platforms Lovable and Replit, the AI agent builder Relay.app, and the creative editing suite Descript.

How the Verification Process Works

These integrated platforms will monitor user activity to assess technical capabilities. Certificates are generated based on specific criteria, including:

• Consistent usage patterns within the application.
• Successful product outcomes achieved using the tools.
• Demonstrated proficiency in navigating platform features.

While the company has not yet released granular requirements for earning these badges, the certifications will be displayed alongside other professional credentials once earned.

Expanding the AI Talent Ecosystem

The program is set to grow significantly in the coming months. LinkedIn has confirmed that additional partners, such as Gamma, GitHub, and Zapier, are slated to join the initiative. Furthermore, the company has opened a registration form for other organizations interested in becoming verified partners.

Hari Srinivasan, VP of Product at LinkedIn, emphasized that the shift is driven by the urgent market demand for AI fluency. “Jobs require fluency in the technology your employer depends on and AI proficiency; the ability to use these tools to deliver today is now the most in-demand skill,” Srinivasan said. He added that verified skills provide a tangible way for professionals to prove their capabilities in an era where trust is paramount.

The Surge in AI Job Requirements

The move aligns with broader labor market trends indicating a rapid integration of AI into professional roles. Data from edX shows that the volume of job postings requiring AI skills doubled over the 12 months leading up to August 2025.

Recent analysis from Indeed’s Hiring Lab further highlights this trajectory, noting that by the end of 2025, 4.2% of U.S. job postings featured AI-related keywords. While the technology sector remains the primary driver of this trend, adoption is also accelerating within fields such as marketing and banking.
