Meta Unveils AI-Powered Shopping Tools for Facebook and Instagram
Meta is rolling out a suite of generative AI features designed to transform the shopping experience across Facebook and Instagram. Announced during the Shoptalk 2026 conference, the initiative aims to boost conversion rates by providing consumers with instant product insights and a frictionless checkout process.
The new functionality triggers when a user engages with an advertisement or navigates to a brand’s website from within Meta’s ecosystem. Instead of manually scanning dozens of customer opinions, shoppers will encounter an AI-generated summary that condenses user feedback into a concise overview of sentiment and key highlights.

Enhancing Product Discovery and Checkout
Beyond summarizing reviews, the AI tool acts as an in-app shopping assistant. It offers contextual information about brands, suggests related products, and highlights current promotions. Crucially, the interface includes a direct “Add to Cart” option, keeping the user within the Meta environment throughout the entire journey.
To finalize transactions, Meta has overhauled its checkout flow. By partnering with payment processors like Stripe and PayPal, the platform enables one-tap purchasing. Future updates are expected to integrate additional providers, including Adyen and Shopify, giving advertisers flexibility in their checkout partner choices.

Creator Economy Expansion
Meta is also broadening its affiliate network to better compete with rivals like TikTok. The company is introducing new partnerships for creators, allowing them to earn commissions on products sold through their content. The updated affiliate program includes:
- United States: Amazon, eBay, and Temu.
- Latin America: Mercado Libre.
- Asia: Shopee.
Furthermore, Instagram Reels creators in 22 countries will gain access to extensive product catalogs, simplifying the process of tagging and featuring items in their videos. Later this year, Instagram will also begin testing affiliate integrations with Amazon and Shopee, with partners setting their own commission rates for creators.
