Microsoft to Shut Down Outlook Lite App on May 26
Microsoft has confirmed that its Outlook Lite application for Android is reaching its final operational day. The software, which debuted in 2022 to assist users with limited device storage and slower internet speeds, will officially cease functionality on May 26.
The company had previously signaled the end of the product’s lifecycle by removing it from the Google Play Store back in October 2025. Now, the transition is reaching its conclusion as the service stops working entirely for those who still have the app installed on their devices.
Transitioning to the Main Outlook Client
To maintain access to their digital correspondence, current users will need to migrate to the standard Outlook Mobile app. Microsoft has outlined a clear path for this transition:
- Existing emails, calendar entries, and file attachments will remain accessible by signing into the main Outlook Mobile application.
- The company is actively directing users toward the Google Play Store to download the full-featured version of the client.
In a support document addressing the shutdown, Microsoft stated: “To continue enjoying a secure and feature-rich email experience, we recommend switching to Outlook Mobile.”
The final timeline for the application’s retirement was initially noted by Neowin, marking the end of a project specifically engineered for performance on lower-end Android hardware.
