Oura Debuts Specialized AI Model for Women’s Health
Oura has introduced its first proprietary AI model specifically engineered to provide personalized insights into women’s reproductive health. Integrated into the company’s Oura Advisor chatbot, the new system offers support for health inquiries ranging from menstrual cycle tracking to the transition into menopause.
The update is currently available through Oura Labs, the company’s internal hub for experimental features accessible within the Oura mobile application. By utilizing this platform, Oura aims to address the specific needs of its rapidly growing user base, which currently sees women in their early twenties as its fastest-expanding demographic.

How the Technology Works
Unlike generic AI tools, this model is built upon established medical research and standards vetted by Oura’s team of board-certified clinicians. When a user queries the Oura Advisor, the system synthesizes the following data points:
- Biometric Signals: Analysis of long-term trends in sleep and physical activity.
- Reproductive Data: Specific insights derived from cycle and pregnancy tracking.
- Wellness Context: Integration of stress levels and other relevant biometric markers.
Ricky Bloomfield, MD, chief medical officer at Oura, emphasized that the move is a departure from “one-size-fits-all” digital health solutions. “By designing a model specifically for women and grounding it in trusted clinical science and real-world biometric data, we’re setting the standard for how responsible intelligence should be built,” Bloomfield stated.
Privacy and Usage Guidelines
While the AI is designed to be supportive and non-dismissive of user concerns, the company stresses that it does not replace professional medical advice. The chatbot is not intended to provide clinical diagnoses or create treatment plans.
To address data security concerns, Oura confirmed that the model operates on its own proprietary infrastructure. The company maintains that user conversations are neither shared with third parties nor sold, ensuring privacy as people increasingly turn to AI for preliminary health guidance.
Users interested in testing the feature can enable it by navigating to the drop-down menu located in the upper-left corner of the Oura app.
