Rebellions Raises $400M at $2.3B Valuation for AI Chip Push
South Korean semiconductor startup Rebellions has secured $400 million in a new funding round, pushing its valuation to approximately $2.34 billion. This capital injection arrives as the fabless chip designer prepares for an upcoming initial public offering (IPO) later this year.

The latest investment was spearheaded by the Korea National Growth Fund and Mirae Asset Financial Group. With this round, the company’s total funding has climbed to $850 million, with $650 million of that amount raised within the last six months alone. This follows a successful $250 million Series C round completed in November and a $124 million Series B in 2024.
Focusing on Inference Infrastructure
Founded in 2020, Rebellions specializes in designing chips optimized for AI inference—the computational process that allows models to generate responses to user inputs. As large language models (LLMs) see broader commercial adoption, the demand for efficient inference hardware has become a critical focal point for the industry.
Sunghyun Park, co-founder and CEO, noted that the industry’s focus is shifting. “AI is now measured by its ability to operate in the real world at scale, under power constraints, and with clear economic return,” Park said. “That shifts the center of gravity toward inference infrastructure and software that makes that infrastructure usable.”
Global Expansion and New Platforms
Alongside the funding news, Rebellions unveiled two new infrastructure platforms:
- RebelPOD: A production-ready unit designed for inference compute.
- RebelRack: A scalable cluster solution that integrates multiple pods to support large-scale AI deployments.
The company is currently executing an aggressive international growth strategy. Marshall Choy, the Chief Business Officer leading these efforts, confirmed that Rebellions has established new entities in the United States, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. In the U.S., the firm is actively building partnerships with telecom operators, government agencies, and cloud providers.
Challenging Market Dominance
Rebellions is part of a growing ecosystem of startups aiming to compete with Nvidia’s long-standing dominance in the semiconductor space. As that market position faces increasing pressure, Rebellions joins other major tech entities—including Google, AWS, and Meta—in the push to develop specialized hardware for the next generation of AI workloads. While the company is clearly positioning itself for the public markets, leadership has not yet disclosed a specific timeline for the IPO.
