Roblox Unveils Short-Form Video Feed and AI Creator Tools
Roblox is evolving its platform with the introduction of a TikTok-style short-form video feed and a suite of advanced artificial intelligence tools. Revealed at the Roblox Developers Conference, these features aim to deepen player engagement and streamline the development process for its creator community.
The new video experience, dubbed “Roblox Moments,” is currently rolling out in beta for users aged 13 and older. This feature allows players to record up to 30 seconds of gameplay, edit the footage with music and descriptions, and share it within a scrollable feed. Beyond mere viewing, the interface enables users to react with emojis and jump directly into the featured game experience with a single tap.

Expanding the Creator Economy
In a move to support its developer base, Roblox is increasing the payout rate for its Developer Exchange (DevEx) program. Creators will now see an 8.5% increase in earnings when converting Robux to cash; specifically, 100,000 Robux will now yield $380, up from the previous $350 rate.
The company emphasized the growth of this economy, noting that the average revenue for a Top 1000 developer has climbed to nearly $1 million, representing a 2.9x increase since 2020. Later this year, new APIs will further empower creators, allowing them to build custom discovery systems, such as leaderboards or highlighted gameplay clips.
AI-Driven Development and Communication
Roblox is also integrating generative AI to help developers build functional, interactive assets. Instead of static 3D models, creators can now prompt the system to generate complex objects—such as drivable sports cars—that are ready for in-game use. These assets can be further customized, with features like functional doors or specific movement physics.

Communication tools are also receiving a significant upgrade:
- Real-time translation: Starting next year, voice chat will be automatically translated across English, Spanish, French, and German.
- Text-to-speech API: Allows for instant narration and NPC dialogue using 10 customizable English voice presets.
- Speech-to-text API: Enables voice-controlled gameplay, such as triggering actions like “Fire!” during combat.
Safety and Performance Enhancements
To address platform integrity, Roblox is introducing “Server Authority,” a mode designed to reduce cheating and improve physics realism. Avatar movements are also becoming more sophisticated, with natural momentum for actions like climbing and vaulting, alongside more precise object-grasping capabilities.
These updates follow recent efforts by the company to bolster platform safety, including partnerships with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) and the expansion of age-estimation technology, as the platform navigates ongoing scrutiny regarding child safety.
