Skich App Launches Game Launcher for Android Users

The mobile game discovery platform Skich is expanding its utility beyond recommendations with the release of a new “Game Launcher” feature. Designed to declutter mobile screens, the tool enables users to manage, sort, and launch installed games without switching between multiple apps.

The feature acts as a centralized hub for a user’s library, automatically categorizing titles based on installation date, total playtime, and frequency of use. By providing a clear view of which games occupy the most time, the interface helps players identify titles they no longer use, simplifying the process of cleaning up device storage.

Platform Limitations and Database Growth

  • Availability: The feature is currently exclusive to Android devices, as Apple’s platform policies restrict apps that function as alternative app stores.
  • Database Scope: Skich’s database currently supports approximately 15,000 games.
  • Manual Input: If a game is not automatically recognized, users can manually add it to their launcher collection.

Sergey Budkovski, founder and CEO of Skich, noted that the company is actively expanding this database daily. Given that the Google Play Store hosts roughly 490,000 titles and the Apple App Store contains over 1 million, the team faces a significant scaling task.

Building Developer Visibility

In addition to the launcher, the company has prioritized features aimed at helping independent developers reach their target audience. By implementing dedicated profiles for developers, Skich aims to mirror the behavior of music discovery, where users explore an artist’s full discography after enjoying a single track.

“We know that the biggest problem for game developers right now is finding their audience,” Budkovski explained. By allowing users to track what their friends are playing, wishlisting, and reviewing, Skich is pushing further into social discovery. The company plans to introduce real-time activity tracking by the end of 2023, which will allow users to see exactly when friends are currently engaged in a game.
