Titan AI Raises $500K to Transform Mobile Game Development

Mobile game studio Titan AI has secured over $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Berkeley SkyDeck. The startup aims to leverage generative AI to accelerate development cycles and reduce the high costs associated with creating mobile content, which can exceed $250,000 depending on project complexity.

The company was established by Fabien-Pierre Nicolas, formerly the vice president of U.S. marketing at SmartNews, and Victor Ceitelis, co-founder of the AI asset platform Scenario. Their objective is to utilize artificial intelligence to handle labor-intensive production stages, including the generation of 2D graphics and the development of 3D game level segments.

Technical Integration and Design

Titan AI incorporates existing image generation models, such as Stable Diffusion and DALL-E, to produce 2D assets. These are then integrated into 3D environments using the studio’s proprietary technology. According to Nicolas, this workflow allows the team to test hypotheses regarding AI-level construction and iterate on prototypes quickly.

The studio has already released several titles, including:

Focus on Representation

Beyond technical efficiency, Titan AI emphasizes inclusive storytelling. Nicolas noted that he and Ceitelis sought to address the lack of diverse protagonists in mainstream gaming. Their debut title, Aztec Spirit Run, explicitly counters historical tropes by featuring a protagonist defending cultural treasures against Conquistadores.

The funding round also included seven angel investors, among them Andreas Gross, a generative AI product leader at Meta; Benjamin De la Clémendière, co-founder of BlackoutLab; Yury Mazanik, co-founder of Belka Games; and Bob Meese, chief business officer at Duolingo. Titan AI operates on a free-to-play model, generating revenue through in-app advertising and premium features.
