Twitch Launches TikTok-Style Discovery Feed for All Users
Twitch is officially expanding its platform capabilities this week by rolling out a dedicated discovery feed to its entire user base. Integrated directly into the iOS and Android mobile applications, the feature introduces a vertical, scrollable interface designed to help viewers find new creators through bite-sized previews.

The update follows a testing phase that began in August 2023. By adopting this format, Twitch aligns itself with a growing trend of major digital platforms—such as YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn—that have implemented short-form video feeds to increase user engagement and content discoverability.
How the New Feed Works
The interface is split into two distinct sections to cater to different viewing habits:
- Live Feed: Displays current broadcasts, mixing streams from creators a user already follows with recommendations based on personal preferences.
- Clips Feed: Highlights top moments from across the platform, providing a way for viewers to engage with content even when their favorite streamers are offline.
A key advantage of this new navigation tool is the absence of pre-roll advertisements, allowing users to preview multiple broadcasts quickly before committing to a specific channel. To refine these recommendations, viewers can interact with a thumbs-up or thumbs-down button on any clip or live stream to signal their content preferences.
Expanding Reach for Streamers
For years, creators have requested better internal tools to grow their audiences. Unlike platforms built entirely on algorithmic discovery, Twitch has historically required streamers to rely on external promotion or collaborations to gain visibility. This new feed serves as an automated engine for growth, as all content that adheres to platform guidelines is eligible for inclusion.
While streamers cannot manually upload content to the feed, the company is encouraging creators to prioritize the production of high-quality clips. This strategy aims to give small and medium-sized channels a better opportunity to reach new viewers who may have otherwise never encountered their broadcasts.
This rollout is part of a broader push by the platform to modernize its mobile experience. Alongside the discovery feed, the company has signaled plans for a comprehensive app redesign and enhanced social sharing features in the near future.
