Vimeo begins staff layoffs following Bending Spoons buyout
Vimeo has initiated a round of global layoffs following its recent acquisition by the Italian technology firm Bending Spoons. The move comes shortly after the completion of an all-cash transaction valued at $1.38 billion, which saw the video-hosting platform change ownership last year.
While Bending Spoons confirmed the workforce reduction to Business Insider, the company has declined to disclose the specific number of employees affected. However, reports indicate the cuts are extensive. According to The Verge, a significant segment of the total staff is being impacted. Confirmation of the scale emerged via a LinkedIn post from Vimeo’s former VP of Global Brand and Creative, who stated that he and a large portion of the team were affected by the layoffs.
