X Launches ‘React with Video’ for Creator Commentary
X is shifting how users interact with content by introducing “React with Video,” a tool designed to prioritize visual commentary over traditional text-based reposts. The platform, owned by Elon Musk, debuted the feature this Tuesday, positioning it as a primary method for creators to build engagement through direct video responses.

The update moves beyond the standard repost function, inviting users to record their thoughts rather than relying solely on Quote Posts. By capturing facial expressions and vocal tone, the company intends to foster more nuanced interactions between creators and their audiences.
Expanding Creator Tools
Nikita Bier, the head of product at X, emphasized the importance of this evolution for the platform’s ecosystem. “Commentary is one of the most important pillars of X. And sometimes the best way to share your thoughts is with video,” Bier stated during the announcement.

Currently, the feature is accessible to iOS users, with plans to expand to Android and web interfaces in the near future. The move is strategically aimed at news influencers and content creators who rely on analyzing current events and political discourse to grow their personal brands.
Recent Platform Adjustments
The introduction of video reactions follows a series of updates aimed at refining the creator experience on X. The company has made several structural changes recently, including:
- The discontinuation of the Communities feature in April to prioritize direct connections.
- Adjustments to the revenue-sharing program, following community feedback.
- The implementation of “Paid Partnership” labels and new ad formats linked to products.
- A crackdown on clickbait content by lowering payouts for accounts identified as circulating low-value material.
- Revamping Creator Subscriptions with added functionalities like exclusive threads and shareable cards.
According to data from a recent SpaceX S-1 filing, the platform reached 550 million users as of March 2026, marking an increase from the 520 million reported in December 2025.
