YouTube Launches Voluntary Exit Program for US Staff

YouTube announces ‘voluntary exit program’ for US staff

YouTube has initiated a voluntary exit program for its workforce based in the United States. The company confirmed the development following an internal communication sent by CEO Neal Mohan to staff members this Wednesday.

While the program offers severance packages to those who choose to depart, the organization clarified that no specific job roles are being eliminated as a direct result of these operational changes.

Strategic Reorganization

Alongside the exit program, Mohan announced a structural shift in how product teams are organized. The division, which operates under the Alphabet umbrella, is consolidating its efforts into three primary groups, each reporting directly to the CEO:

  • Subscription Products: Dedicated to the growth and management of YouTube Music, Premium, and OTT services.
  • Viewer Products: Focused on the user experience across the core YouTube app, YouTube Kids, Learning, and Trust & Safety initiatives.
  • Creator & Community Products: Tasked with supporting the creator ecosystem and fostering community engagement.

These changes coincide with the release of Alphabet’s third-quarter earnings. The financial report highlights strong performance for the video platform, which generated $10.26 billion in advertising revenue during the period—a 15% increase compared to the previous year. The internal plan was initially detailed by Sources.
