Adobe Expands Firefly AI Assistant to Premiere and Illustrator
Adobe is significantly broadening the reach of its Firefly AI assistant, integrating the technology directly into Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io. This expansion aims to automate complex manual workflows across the company’s flagship creative suite.
Workflow Automation
Within Premiere Pro, the AI assistant is designed to streamline administrative video editing tasks. Users can now leverage the tool for:
- Organizing assets into specific bins.
- Batch-renaming video clips.
- Identifying and marking interview questions.
- Adding automated markers to timelines.
In Illustrator, the assistant brings similar efficiency to graphic design tasks, such as automatically reorganizing complex document layers and scanning for missing font files.
New Creative Capabilities
Adobe is evolving the Firefly application to include more generative features, such as the ability to produce brand kits—complete with logos, color palettes, and identity assets—based on user descriptions or uploaded collateral. Additionally, users can now generate product videos from existing photos and create storyboards.
Two features currently in private beta aim to further assist collaborative teams:
- Elements: Allows users to save AI-generated characters, objects, and locations for reuse across different projects.
- Projects: A centralized repository for storing assets and sharing context, intended for teams managing multi-part video series or brand campaigns.
Adobe’s Firefly technology is already compatible with Express, Photoshop, and Acrobat, and maintains support for external AI models including ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot. The company confirmed plans to integrate Google Gemini and Slack support in the near future.
