Amazon Brings Alexa+ Beta to India With Hindi Support
Amazon is expanding the reach of its generative AI-powered assistant, Alexa+, by launching a beta testing phase in India. The company has begun inviting select customers in the country to participate in the program, which focuses on testing the assistant’s capabilities in Hindi.
According to communications sent to users, the company is seeking feedback to refine the assistant’s performance. Participants have been asked to complete a registration form in Hindi by June 22 to gain access to the upcoming beta experience.
Expanding AI Conversational Capabilities
The invitation explicitly warns that the software is in its early stages. Amazon noted that users may encounter technical bugs, inaccuracies, or difficulties with local linguistic nuances during the testing period. While the company confirmed that testing is underway in India, it declined to provide further official commentary regarding a broader release schedule.
The move marks a significant step in Amazon’s effort to cater to the Indian market, where voice-based AI interaction is increasingly viewed as a critical interface. With over 600 million Hindi speakers, the company is aiming to better serve users who frequently utilize code-mixed language—a blend of Hindi and English common in daily communication.
Alexa+ Global Rollout
Since its initial announcement in 2025, the generative AI-powered Alexa+ has seen a gradual international deployment. Following its full release to U.S. users in February, Amazon has been steadily introducing the service to various markets, including:

- Mexico
- Italy
- Germany
The current iteration of the assistant is provided at no additional cost to Prime members, while other users have the option to access the enhanced features through a monthly subscription fee. Amazon first introduced standard Alexa support for English in India in 2017, followed by the addition of Hindi compatibility in 2019.
