Apple Maps to Launch Paid Search Ads This Summer

Apple is set to introduce paid advertising to its Maps application, marking a significant expansion of the company’s business services. Starting this summer, advertisers in the U.S. and Canada will be able to promote their physical locations directly within the platform’s search results.

The move arrives as part of a comprehensive overhaul of Apple’s enterprise offerings, now consolidated under the single Apple Business brand. This unified suite, which integrates directory services, email, calendar tools, and device management, is scheduled for a global rollout across 200 countries and regions on April 14, 2026.

How Maps Advertising Will Function

The integration of ads into Maps follows an auction-based pricing model, where businesses only pay when a user interacts with their advertisement, such as tapping or viewing it. Apple has specified several key features for this rollout:

  • Visibility: Ads will appear in search results and the “Suggested Places” list, clearly marked as sponsored content.
  • Designation: Promoted locations will be highlighted on the map interface with a distinct small blue halo surrounding the pin.
  • Frequency: To maintain user experience, Apple intends to limit search results to a single ad per query.
  • Privacy: The company stated that interaction data remains on the user’s device and is not associated with individual Apple accounts or shared with third parties.

To participate, businesses must maintain a valid Apple Maps listing. Through the Apple Ads platform, companies can upload photos, define promotional messaging, and set custom budgets. While smaller entities can utilize automated matching to reach users searching for similar services, larger advertisers gain access to advanced controls, including specific location targeting and scheduled campaign runtimes.

Unified Business Suite

The broader Apple Business platform replaces fragmented services such as Apple Business Connect, Essentials, and Manager. This new infrastructure provides companies with professional productivity tools, including domain-specific email and calendars.

For employee management, Apple is now offering its Mobile Device Management (MDM) product for free. Additionally, the company introduced “Blueprints”—preconfigured settings that allow smaller businesses to deploy apps and device configurations without requiring deep technical knowledge. Large-scale enterprises, meanwhile, retain the ability to manage deployments via API.

Storage and support plans are also tiered. Every employee account includes 5 GB of free iCloud storage, with U.S.-based businesses able to upgrade to 2 TB plans starting at $0.99 per user per month. Additionally, businesses can opt for AppleCare+ for Business, with pricing starting at $6.99 per month.
