Flighty Launches Real-Time Airport Intelligence Alerts

Travelers facing increasingly frequent flight disruptions now have access to professional-grade insights via a new feature from the tracking app Flighty. Known as “Airport Intelligence,” the tool provides real-time updates and explanations for operational issues across 14,000 airports worldwide.

The release arrives as global travel infrastructure struggles with volatility. From cancellations linked to Middle East tensions and airport closures to TSA staffing shortages in the U.S., passengers are regularly left without clear information. Flighty is offering this intelligence through its app and a dedicated web dashboard, accessible to all users for free.

Data-Driven Transparency

The platform aggregates the same technical data used by aviation professionals, including:

  • METARs (Meteorological Aerodrome Reports)
  • TAFs (Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts)
  • NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen)
  • Ground stop and landing procedure updates

By processing this complex information, the app identifies operational hurdles—such as de-icing needs, low visibility, or lightning—and translates them into layman’s terms. “Airport meltdowns are increasingly common, and historically it would take a pilot, controller, or a serious aviation expert to explain why, until now,” says Flighty CEO Ryan Jones. “Airport Intelligence turns raw data into real insights, so you always know what’s happening at your airport.”

Expanded Features

Beyond live alerts, the update introduces “Deep Airport Stats,” which includes rankings, information on the busiest airlines, and the most impacted routes. Users can also access airport boards for arrivals and departures, set favorite airport alerts, and compare travel history with friends.

For professional settings, such as newsrooms or public displays, Flighty has also introduced a “TV mode.” This feature presents a live, updating ticker of airport statuses, allowing broadcasters and creators to share real-time aviation updates with their audiences.
