With the release of iPadOS 17, Apple has introduced native support for external USB-based cameras and microphones. Capitalizing on this capability, Reincubate has launched Camo Studio for iPad, a free application designed to transform tablets into high-end production hubs for streamers and content creators.
The software offers a suite of advanced features previously reserved for desktop setups, including multi-source picture-in-picture, custom backgrounds, and portrait effects. Users can also utilize web overlays, auto-framing, and precise rotation controls to polish their video output.
Versatility for Creators and Gamers
The app integrates Apple Pencil support, allowing artists, instructors, and designers to annotate visual content in real-time. Beyond traditional streaming, the platform serves multiple professional use cases:
- Mobile Broadcasting: Stream on the go by connecting portable cameras and microphones directly to the iPad.

Camo Studio for iPad supports streaming canvases in 16:9 or 9:16 aspect ratios, with capabilities reaching 1440p and 4K resolutions. Compatibility extends to all iPads running iPadOS 17 with an A12 chip or newer; however, background recording and streaming are restricted to devices equipped with M1 or M2 chips.
Reincubate has confirmed that the roadmap for the application includes the future addition of virtual camera support, advanced scene editing, and multi-source audio mixing.
