Google Gemini Hits 750M Monthly Users Amid AI Growth

Google’s AI-powered chatbot, Gemini, has reached a significant milestone by surpassing 750 million monthly active users (MAUs). The data, disclosed in Alphabet’s fourth-quarter 2025 financial results, underscores a period of aggressive expansion for the platform.

Rapid Adoption and Market Position

The latest figures represent a sharp increase from the 650 million MAUs reported in the previous quarter. While Gemini is carving out a major presence in the generative AI sector, it continues to compete with other industry giants:

  • Meta AI: Currently leads the group with 1 billion monthly active users.
  • ChatGPT: Estimated to have approximately 810 million MAUs as of late 2025.

Strategic Drivers for Growth

Company leadership attributes this momentum to constant product iteration and the recent release of Gemini 3. CEO Sundar Pichai noted that the integration of the Gemini 3 model in AI mode served as a “positive driver” for the company’s performance. According to Pichai, Gemini models are now processing more than 10 billion tokens per minute through direct API usage.

Beyond the model updates, Google is refining its commercial strategy. The company recently introduced “Google AI Plus,” a subscription tier priced at $7.99 per month. While this lower price point is designed to attract cost-sensitive users, executives noted that the plan was launched too recently to impact the current quarterly metrics.

“We are focused on a free tier and subscriptions and seeing great growth,” stated Philipp Schindler, Google’s chief business officer, during the investor call.

Financial Impact and Hardware Expansion

The surge in AI engagement coincides with a historic financial achievement for Alphabet, which exceeded $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time. This fiscal success is closely linked to the scaling of the company’s AI division.

To support this infrastructure, Google is diversifying its hardware capabilities. The company recently debuted “Ironwood,” its latest generation of TPU AI accelerator chips, designed to directly challenge Nvidia’s dominance in the AI hardware market.

Looking ahead, Pichai emphasized that the company plans to maintain this trajectory through continued investment. “Search saw more usage than ever before, with AI continuing to drive an expansionary moment,” he added.
