HTC Unveils Vive Focus Vision Headset Starting at $1,000
HTC officially announced the Vive Focus Vision on Wednesday, a new mixed reality headset positioned to compete with premium devices like the Apple Vision Pro, Microsoft HoloLens, and Magic Leap 2. Priced at $1,000, the hardware aims to bridge the gap between enterprise-grade performance and the demands of high-end PC gaming enthusiasts.
Technical Specifications and Features
The device is built to handle both standalone VR and tethered PC experiences. HTC has integrated several high-end components to support these use cases:
- Visual Performance: A combined 5K resolution display with a 120-degree field of view and support for up to 120Hz refresh rates.
- Passthrough Capabilities: Dual 16-megapixel cameras enabling full-color, stereo passthrough for mixed reality interaction.
- Tracking Technology: Built-in eye tracking and an infrared sensor designed for improved hand tracking performance, even in low-light environments.
- PC Connectivity: Support for DisplayPort, allowing for visually lossless PCVR gaming.
- Hardware Management: An upgraded cooling system to handle intensive workloads and an onboard backup battery that maintains power during main battery swaps.
Targeting Enterprise and Enthusiasts
While the casual consumer market has been heavily influenced by Meta’s aggressive pricing, HTC is doubling down on the enterprise sector while maintaining appeal for PC gamers. By offering DisplayPort support, the company aims to bring the fidelity of arcade-style VR systems into a home environment.

We’re taking everything to the next level with built-in eye-tracking, stereo color passthrough cameras for depth-correct mixed reality, and even an infra-red sensor for enhanced hand tracking in low-light conditions.”
Availability
Preorders for the Vive Focus Vision begin immediately, with the company expecting to start shipping units by mid-October.
