Little Umbrella Secures $2M to Scale AI-Driven Party Games
Little Umbrella, a startup focused on integrating generative AI into social gaming, has secured $2 million in seed funding. The company plans to utilize this capital to accelerate the production of three new AI-powered party titles scheduled for release over the next year.
The studio, led by former Meta Horizon Worlds design leader Tabish Ahmed, aims to address the current gap in demand for cross-platform social experiences. By leveraging AI, the team claims to significantly reduce development cycles; for context, their debut title, Death by AI, was conceptualized and launched in just 10 weeks.

The AI-Powered Party Genre
Unlike traditional party game developers that follow annual release schedules, Little Umbrella uses large language models (LLMs) to act as dynamic game masters. This approach ensures that every round remains unpredictable and unique. Death by AI, which tasks players with creating deadly scenarios to test their friends, reached over 20 million players in its first three months and is currently available on Discord, the web, and iOS.
The studio’s next project, tentatively titled The Last Show by AI, is a dystopian-themed game show. A beta version is expected to debut at the 2025 Game Developers Conference in March.
Infrastructure and Expansion
To support its portfolio, the company developed Playroom, a cross-platform social game kit. This infrastructure includes an orchestration layer that integrates custom models via partnerships with OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and Inworld. The kit is currently available to other developers with pricing tiers ranging from free to $150 per month.

Leadership and Investment
Little Umbrella’s leadership team includes veterans from the gaming and social tech sectors:
- Tabish Ahmed (CEO): Former design leader at Meta’s Horizon Worlds.
- Timothy Johnson (CTO): Previously at Gallium Studios, focusing on AI-simulated worlds.
- Sean Webster (CBO): Former VP at AppLovin and head of partnerships at Snap.
- Bill Robison (Art Director): Contributor to titles such as Scoob! and Young Jedi Adventures.
